About Us

MAS Engineering PLLC is a trusted Illinois-based firm offering professional engineering, surveying, and construction management services. We are dedicated to meeting the diverse needs of both public and private clients, including municipalities and the Illinois Department of Transportation. Our firm prides itself on building long-standing client relationships through a steadfast commitment to honesty and integrity.

Our Story

Our roots began in 1993 when Richard L. Knight started a surveying business as Richard L. Knight Surveying. In 2007, he changed the name to Knight & Associates Surveying LLC. In 2014, he expanded his services to include construction inspection and civil engineering. Richard retired at the end of 2019 and sold the business to Rob Macklin, PE. Rob reached out to his former high school classmate Tommy Schultz, PLS, to manage the survey department. In 2023, the firm was rebranded to MAS Engineering PLLC, representing the new ownership of MAS (Macklin & Schultz).

From its beginning, MAS Engineering PLLC’s main focus has been providing quality services while meeting the client’s time and cost budgets.

As a significant portion of the firm’s business comes from repeat clients, we focus on building long-term strategic relationships. MAS staff works closely with clients to understand their objectives and strive to identify the best solutions to achieve those objectives.

We specialize in land surveying, transportation engineering, and construction engineering. We’ve got the knowledge and experience to complete the job in a timely and efficient manner, and we take a hands-on approach with every project and ensure the highest quality of work throughout. We’re certified through the Illinois Professional Land Surveyors and Illinois Association of Highway Engineers, so you can trust in our professionalism and service. Excellent customer service is our top priority, so we maintain transparent communication with our customers and pay great attention to detail in our work.

Whether the project is highway road design, a traffic engineering study, boundary and property surveys, or construction staking and layout, we can get the job done. We’re fortunate to have developed personal relationships with our customers and community over the years, which have been the foundation of our positive reputation. We’re thankful for the support of our customers and our community.
